  • Originally organized in the year of our Lord 1853, by the Rev. A.D. Safford, as the Dillingham "Shed" Methodist Church. According to a newspaper article published in the "Marion Semi-Weekly Leader Newspaper on August 29, 1922", the names of the charter membership was not known, but Isaac Cox was the first pastor and Alfred Dillingham the first class leader. Having no house to worship in they held regular services in the home of the Rev. A.D. Safford for some time, which was a log house on the property known as the Thomas M. Dorris farm which was originally owned by Rev. Safford. The first building for a meeting place was merely a shed which was built by setting posts in the ground and covering them over with clapboards, the sides being left open. The frequent reference to the old building as the "Shed" doubtless gave rise to the name which was often referred to as the "Dillingham Shed" Church.

Under this "shed" religious services were held when the weather would permit. This "shed" stood just east of the present house. In 1868 a log building was constructed to be used as a place of worship and was used as such until the present and current building was built in 1887.

Once a part of the Corinth Circuit of the United Methodist Church, with a decline in membership, the Methodist Conference dropped the Dillingham "Shed" Methodist Church from its charge during the 1990's. Upon this action, the church building was deeded to a new congregation which consisted of some of those remaining few members of the Methodist and the Dillingham "Shed" Methodist Church became known as the Dillingham "Shed" Community Church, of which it is still known as of today. This old country church is still a beacon of spiritual guidance to the surrounding community with church services still being held even yet today.

Surrounding this sacred spiritual center, is the burial grounds of many of the areas early pioneers and their descendants. With Revolutionary, War of 1812, Civil War and Soldiers that have served in the wars of our world since, one upon visiting this hallowed sacraments of wars and life of past, may be overcome with an element of honor and respect of the lives, fruition and tribulations that those gone on before overcame and conquered.
